YourPirateStation.com grew out of the Radio Literacy Project, an initiative founded by Professor Alexander Klystron around 1988.
Professor Klystron has worked with amateur radio operators, broadcasters, and radio enthusiasts and has decades of experience with radio technology and wireless transmission.

DJ Mr. E joined the Radio Literacy Project in 2000. He had previously worked with radio stations in Rochester and Austin before moving to Brooklyn, where he became involved with independent and pirate radio, LPFM, radio production, events, streaming media, cable access TV and experimental broadcasting.
